Studies

In light of the devastating repression against scholars and students in Belarus and Russia and the impact of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office the SCIENCE AT RISK Emergency Office commissioned 3 comprehensive research studies in 2023. We have continued this important work in 2024, further building on our efforts to document and analyze the challenges faced by the academic community.

The studies map the state of academic freedom in each of the 3 target countries, respectively, and provide a picture of the situation of at-risk academics in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine that is unique in its scope.
